Position Summary The Multiomics Mass Spectrometry (MMS) Core Facility Applications Specialist is an experienced analytical chemist with broad experience in mass spectrometry sample preparation and analysis workflows. The Applications Specialist works closely with the MMS Core Manager and Scientific Director and routinely interacts with investigators, scientists, graduate students, industry representatives, service technicians, and other academic and industry collaborators to assist stakeholders in all stages of projects, including initial consultation, design, development, and analysis of experiments performed in the MMS Core. The Applications Specialist develops, implements, and validates new workflows, creates standard operating procedures, oversees support staff, assists with manuscript and grant preparation, represents the MMS Core at scientific meetings, presents core technologies to potential users, and assists the Core manager in record keeping and billing. Qualifications Education (Required): Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology or related field. Experience (Required): 3 years in a research laboratory setting. Computer Applications (Required): Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint. Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Required): Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics: sample preparation, data acquisition for multiple instrument configurations, data analysis, instrument quality control/maintenance. Strong organizational, interpersonal, writing, collaborative, critical thinking, and analytical skills. Education (Preferred): Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology or related field. Experience (Preferred): Mass spectrometry experience including differential proteomics, analysis of posttranslational modifications, targeted and untargeted metabolite analysis, data interpretation; supervision of staff/student and laboratory management; MALDI imaging. Computer Applications (Preferred): Working knowledge of PC computer systems, Prism, ProteomeDiscoverer, Spectronaut, MSStats, Python, R. Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Preferred): Experience with mass spectrometry, shared resources and a proven ability to implement goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
