Job Summary The Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Missouri seeks a clinical faculty member specializing in cardiac surgery. Academic rank will be determined based on qualifications. Candidates should be board‑eligible or board‑certified. An interest in developing a robust practice and building a strong, collegial referral network for the university is highly desirable. About the Department Surgeons at University Hospital performed the first open‑heart procedure in mid‑Missouri in 1958 and have earned a reputation as one of the state’s most active and respected cardiothoracic referral centers. The university offers a comprehensive cardiothoracic surgery program distinguished by its experienced surgical team and advanced treatment options. Six advanced practice providers provide 24/7 support, and cardiac‑trained anesthesiologists and critical‑care‑trained cardiologists complete the critical‑care team. Qualifications MD or DO degree from an accredited institution. US board‑certified or board‑eligible in cardiothoracic surgery. Fellowship trained in cardiothoracic surgery. Commitment to patient‑centered care, teaching, and scholarly activity. Strong collaborative approach to multidisciplinary teams. Interest in establishing a growing community practice and developing a collegial referral network. Responsibilities Clinical practice as a faculty member in cardiac surgery, including performing procedures, patient care, and participation on a multidisciplinary team. Development of a community referral network, participation in teaching activities, and engagement in scholarly projects are essential components of the role.
