Apex ER is willing to train a motivated technologist with strong radiology fundamentals, sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to learn quickly. We are seeking someone comfortable with the pace, variety, and teamwork required in emergency medicine rather than an individual whose experience has been limited primarily to scheduled outpatient imaging.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of current X-ray and CT techniques, including patient positioning and image-quality assessment.
- Ability to learn and operate point-of-care laboratory equipment and complete required radiology/lab quality-control documentation.
- Basic equipment troubleshooting skills
- Strong communication, organization, documentation, patient-care, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, work independently, and remain effective during high-acuity or emergency situations.
- Ability to adapt to changing patient volume and facility needs.
Qualifications:
- Two or more years of Radiologic Technologist experience.
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program; associate degree or equivalent education (ARRT Certification).
- Emergency department or freestanding emergency room experience.
- Certification in CT.
- IV initiation and venipuncture experience.
- Point-of-care laboratory and laboratory QC experience.
Candidates who do not meet every preferred qualification are encouraged to apply. Apex ER is willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates strong radiology fundamentals, sound judgment, professionalism, flexibility, and the ability to learn quickly.
Professional Requirements
- Maintain all required licenses, certifications, competencies, and continuing education.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times and comply with HIPAA and applicable privacy requirements.
- Follow Apex ER policies and procedures and maintain regulatory requirements applicable to radiology and assigned laboratory procedures.
- Report to work on time and as scheduled and maintain reliable attendance.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including shifts of up to 12 hours.
- Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, and repositioning.
- Ability to assist patients with mobility, transfers, and positioning.
- Ability to lift up to approximately 50 pounds independently and heavier weights with appropriate assistance or equipment.
- Physical strength and agility necessary to safely position patients for diagnostic examinations.
- Ability to move quickly and respond appropriately during emergency situations.
Work Environment
This position is performed within a freestanding emergency room and may involve exposure to blood, bodily fluids, infectious materials, other potentially hazardous substances, and ionizing radiation within established occupational safety standards. The role includes emergency and high-acuity patient-care situations, adult and pediatric patients, patients experiencing illness, injury, pain, anxiety, or emotional distress, rapidly changing clinical priorities, periods of high patient volume, and interaction with emergency medical services and other healthcare providers. Appropriate personal protective equipment and established safety procedures must be utilized when indicated.
Equal Opportunity Employer
Apex ER is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Employment decisions are based on qualifications, experience, skills, performance, professional conduct, and organizational needs. Apex ER does not discriminate against qualified employees or applicants based on race, color, religion, sex, pregnancy, national origin, ancestry, age, disability, veteran status, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.
