Overview Sheet Metal Technician III - 1444. West Star Aviation is a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) provider. This full-time, on-site role is posted as active and requires the ability to work in a hangar environment with possible overtime and weekend assignments. Responsibilities Perform basic sheet metal operations such as drilling, riveting, and cutting on airframe and associated components. Apply and remove sealant, sound deadening and finish materials. Maintain, clean and repair shop facilities, equipment and tooling when required. Utilize basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases. Communicate effectively in English (speaking, writing, reading). Any other job-related duties assigned by supervisor or management. Education High school diploma or equivalent; Airframe and Powerplant License is preferred. Valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or valid passport is ideal but not mandatory. Experience Prior experience working with sheet metal is preferred. Your Sense of Responsibility Attend work every day as scheduled, including overtime and weekend assignments. Notify supervisor in advance if unable to work. Must have reliable transportation. Other Particulars Physical Requirements Lift up to 50 lbs. Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting. Climb ladders and stairs; work in small, restricted areas. Standing for long periods. Mental Requirements Understand and implement regulations and guidelines. Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation. Work with others in a professional manner. Supervision Work under the supervision of an assigned Team Leader. May be directed to supervise other technicians in some capacity. Working Conditions Work is performed in a hangar environment with extreme temperature variations. Outdoor work may occur during aircraft runs. Positions vary in and around the aircraft. Equipment Used Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic. Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment. Jacks, stands, lifts, and other support devices.
