Cath Lab Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Responsibilities

The Cath Lab Registered Nurse is responsible for the following duties:

• Intra-procedural circulating duties
• Supplies and medication administration
• Patient sedation during procedures

Qualifications

The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications:

• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a hospital setting, specifically in Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Radiology
• Proficient in Electronic Medical Records (EMR), specifically with EPIC and Apollo cardiac charting

Work Environment

This position is located in an active Cath Lab with:

• 3 procedure suites/labs
• An average of 4-5 cases performed per day
• A diverse patient population, including those with conditions such as Compression Fractures, Chest Pain, Pulmonary Hypertension, Gastric Ulcers, and Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)

Scheduling and Shifts

Shifts and scheduling details are as follows:

• Eight-hour day shifts with required call shifts
• Minimum of 10 shifts per month and 2 weekend shifts (1 Interventional Radiology and 1 Cardiac)
• Holiday call requirements apply
• Response time for calls is 30 minutes from designated areas

Additional Information

Orientation for new hires will last for one week, which includes buddy shifts for call coverage. The Cath Lab is noted for its versatility in performing both Interventional Radiology and cardiac procedures, including treatment for ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) using Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) to stabilize patients.

Dress Code

The required dress code is surgical greens.

Other Requirements

• Compliance with a fingernail policy prohibiting artificial nails in patient care settings
• A valid driver's license is necessary for commuting and identification purposes
• Floating to other areas may be required as needed
