Compensation Overview The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards. $114,700.00 - $189,200.00 Target Openings: 1 What Is the Opportunity? Travelers Enterprise Technology Solutions (ETS) organization is seeking an experienced Sr. Technology Engineer to support Geospatial software and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Systems Administration / Platform Engineering with deep expertise in enterprise geospatial platforms. This role is accountable for technology and Agile leadership. Technology includes Geospatial software, infrastructure, and supporting technologies that allow us to operate and maintain our systems. Agile leadership includes a 'Team Lead' role where you would collaborate with business partners on requirements, scope, priority, and overall direction of work for the engineering team. Fill the role of Agile 'Team Lead' for a team of technology engineers supporting our Geospatial platforms. Work with partner Team Leads and engineering team members to create and refine features for the engineering team. Work with engineering team members to clarify expectations and specify requirements to facilitate user story creation. Maintain and prioritize the team backlog. Evaluate systems specifications regarding customer requirements, transforming specifications into cost‑effective, technically correct solutions. Prioritize work and manage projects within established objectives and customer priorities. Responsible for establishing and managing quality control and security protocols. Provide division, department, and business area management with timely and accurate information regarding the status and performance of assigned projects. Leverage technology to develop, redesign, and/or implement optimal geospatial solutions. Accountable for the conceptual and technical integrity and quality of the outputs of the team. Provide guidance and consulting to the engineering team on geospatial best practices and technical troubleshooting. Provide expertise and consulting to technology and business partners on geospatial platform usage, spatial data management, and optimization. Help design, document, and implement administrative procedures for Geospatial platforms. Build, leverage, and maintain effective relationships across technical and business communities. Interact with software vendors for support, escalations, licensing, and general relationship management. Lead maintenance and enhancement projects spanning multiple technical areas and disciplines. Research, analyze, and evaluate software capabilities in new software versions geospatial platforms. Provide off‑hours support as required What will our ideal candidate have? 5-6 years of technology engineering/platform management experience preferred. Support and maintain Geospatial platforms both on‑premises and in the Cloud: ESRI/ArcGIS Enterprise platform administration and supporting components. Precisely Spectrum Technology Platform administration, configuration, and integration with enterprise systems. Infrastructure planning and scaling including Cloud platforms, systems maintenance, business customer support, security configuration and management, user management, and systems integration. Kubernetes/EKS cluster management for containerized geospatial workloads (preferred). Amazon EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service) experience for managing containerized geospatial workloads. Experience deploying ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise in containerized or cloud‑native environments. Familiarity with geospatial data pipelines, ETL processes for spatial data, and integration with enterprise data platforms. Experience with ArcGIS REST API, Python, and Spectrum SDK/API usage. Prior experience in insurance or financial services industry geospatial applications (e.g., risk mapping, geocoding, territory management). PostgreSQL experience: familiarity with RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL on AWS as the team migrates geospatial data infrastructure to the cloud. In‑depth knowledge of Enterprise geospatial platform implementations, maintenance, and support. In‑depth knowledge of technology infrastructure including Cloud services, platform design, and systems integration. In‑depth knowledge of Windows and Linux‑based operating systems. In‑depth knowledge of software installation, configuration, and maintenance practices. Experience supporting enterprise‑level geospatial platforms, platform integrations, capacity planning, security, monitoring, and alerting. Experience working with geospatial technology vendors and managing vendor support relationships. Experience in setup, configuration, and management of common security concepts for integration with LDAP/AD at an Enterprise level. Experience with containerization and Kubernetes; EKS knowledge strongly preferred. Familiar with automation tools like Puppet, Autosys, and scripting languages such as Python. Knowledge of spatial data formats, coordinate systems, projections, and geospatial data management concepts. Ability to research and debug geospatial technology challenges through independent research or vendor technical discussions. Excellent written communication and presentation skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to build credibility and influence. Demonstrated ability to self‑teach and self‑learn new technologies. Demonstrated ability to share learnings with other technology team members in a positive, encouraging manner. What is a Must Have? Bachelor’s degree in computer science, related STEM field, or its equivalent in work experience, plus 4 years of technology or platform engineering experience. What Is in It for You?
