Custodian

Princeton Day School has an immediate opening for an experienced Custodian . The Custodian position works Monday through Friday from 3:00pm to 11:30pm with some weekends. The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe environment for Princeton Day School. Responsibilities Clean, polish, and disinfect bathroom fixtures, urinals, toilets, and mirrors. Clean bathroom walls and floors. Replenish all bathroom supplies. Sweep, mop, scrub, and wax floors and stairs. Clean walls and baseboards. Wash windows. Vacuum all carpets. Collect trash and recycling and place in the proper dumpster. Ensure the dumpster area is neat and clean. Clean all desk tops and polish furniture. Wipe down all chalk boards and/or whiteboards. Set up and break down for events and lunch. Remove outside garbage from all PDS residential properties. Remove garbage from receptacles at all athletic fields. Respond immediately to all emergency situations in the school (floods, sick children, spills). Perform snow removal including shoveling, plowing, and operating other snow removal equipment. Perform Buildings & Grounds functions when requested or required. Perform other duties as assigned or required. Qualifications Demonstrate physical ability and stamina to perform the tasks associated with the position. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb. Ability to efficiently perform repetitive tasks. Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English. Ability to write in English. Ability to work effectively with others. Contribute to building a positive team spirit. Ability to maintain a professional demeanor with students, faculty, staff, and department members. Maintain a positive attitude toward the job, colleagues, and the School. Ability to concentrate and follow through on responsibilities. Demonstrate attention to detail. Ability to lift, push, or pull 50 pounds. Ability to work in hot or cold weather. Compensation $19.00 an hour / $39,520 a year. This role is eligible for PDS' full benefits package including 4 weeks paid time off and 15 holidays.
