Duration: 9 Months

Schedule: 37.5 hours/week, 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM

Education and Experience

• Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school is required.
• Qualifying full-time law enforcement, security, or related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Necessary Special Qualifications

• Valid driver's license required.
• Current CPR certification preferred.
• CPR certification may be provided by the employer if needed.

Position Overview

• Performs institutional and related security work under general supervision.
• Provides security services for public buildings, personnel, visitors, and property.
• Performs a full range of entry-level institutional and security-related duties.
• May be assigned to work any shift based on operational needs.

Responsibilities

• Patrols facilities and designated areas to maintain safety and security.
• Monitors alarms, surveillance systems, and other security equipment.
• Identifies safety hazards and violations of laws, regulations, and facility rules.
• Operates two-way radios, communication devices, patrol vehicles, and other transportation equipment.
• Controls the entrance and exit of individuals by verifying identity, purpose of visit, and authorization.
• Escorts individuals as needed to ensure their safety.
• Responds to security calls and emergency situations.
• Takes appropriate action to assist during emergencies.
• Searches for and apprehends missing or unauthorized individuals.
• Reports security concerns, incidents, and unusual activities to supervisors.
• Communicates with law enforcement agencies to exchange information and request assistance.
• Prepares and maintains incident reports, vehicle citations, visitor logs, personal property reports, and other required documentation.
• Maintains accurate records in accordance with established policies and procedures.
