Job Opportunity: Metabolic Geneticist
Our organization is currently seeking a full-time Board Certified/Eligible Metabolic Geneticist to join the Department of Pediatrics. This role includes a faculty position at the School of Medicine, with the appointment level reflecting your training and experience. This is a fantastic opportunity for both newly trained and seasoned clinician-educators who have a keen interest in clinical genetics, particularly in metabolic genetics.
Key Responsibilities- Provide patient care and conduct inpatient consultations.
- Manage outpatient genetic clinics and collaborate in multidisciplinary team environments.
- Educate medical students and residents.
- Engage in research activities, with protected time allocated for this purpose.
- Encourage and participate in both intramural and extramural collaborations and program development.
The clinical genetics practice here is remarkably diverse, offering extensive experience across various domains, including:
- Neurogenetics
- Cardiogenetics
- Cancer genetics
- Dysmorphology
- Congenital anomalies
Additionally, a new inpatient facility is set to open later this year, enhancing our capabilities. Our clinical lab is developing a cutting-edge genetic and genomic testing laboratory to deliver comprehensive diagnostic services throughout the health system, particularly benefiting the Inland Empire region.
We also have an accredited graduate program (MS) in genetic counseling at our School of Medicine. Our Medical Center and Children's Hospital, located centrally in Southern California, boasts the largest Level IV NICU in the state, catering to about 25% of California's needs. The Children's Hospital is among the few facilities in California offering pediatric cardiac transplants and ECMO, and is establishing a Perinatal Care Center focused on prenatal diagnosis to support high-risk pregnancies and infants with congenital anomalies diagnosed before birth. Furthermore, we have specialized team centers for conditions such as cystic fibrosis, hemoglobinopathies, spina bifida, and craniofacial anomalies.
Compensation and BenefitsThe starting base salary for this position ranges from $238,000 to $278,000, depending on your years of experience and faculty rank. This figure does not include variable compensation or additional productivity incentives, which are determined by departmental compensation plans. Detailed discussions regarding compensation will take place during the recruitment process.
