Apprentice Or Journey Line WorkerXcel Energy Distribution Department is looking to fill an Apprentice (1st Year - 4th Year) or Journey Line Worker position for our Seminole, TX location.As an apprentice lineman you will be taught a very rewarding career in constructing, maintenance, removal and storm restoration of high voltage distribution and transmission lines. Xcel Energy has a very reputable Department of Labor certified apprentice program that is recognized throughout the United States.Position will be responsible for construction, maintenance and operations. Supports maintenance and emergency repairs of distribution and transmission lines.Apprentice Qualifications:Must have a High School diploma or GEDMust have a valid commercial driver's license (CDL Class A) or ability to acquire it within 120 days of start date.Must have successfully taken the EEI CAST AssessmentMust be totally committed to safety, quality work and customer serviceMust be able and willing to respond to after hour and weekend call outsPosition could possibly require travel for extended time periodsApprentices are required to attend 2nd, 3rd and 4th year apprentice schoolsMust be mentally competent, able to communicate and able to comprehend instructions and build on previous experienceMust exhibit a teamwork attitude and be able to work with othersMust be of adequate physical stature toLift and maneuver up to 90 lbs.Climb wood poles up to 100' tallPerform aerial work in a safety belt in a safe and efficient mannerUse shovels, sledgehammers and 90 lb. jack hammersWork in confined areasMust pass the federal DOT physical examinationMust complete all questions in application and upload a resume for consideration.Must reside within 20 miles of the Seminole, TX Service CenterJourneyman Lineman Qualification Requirements:Must successfully score on the Journeyman AssessmentCompletion of an approved apprentice line program is required or 5 years of progressive electric lineman experience.Must have a Class A CDLMust be capable of performing all aspects of electric distribution overhead, underground, construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting.Must be available for emergency callouts as per a schedule.Must have effective communication skills (verbal and written).Position could possibly require travel for extended time periodsMust be physically fit and able to lift objects up to 90 pounds, pass a physical examination and be able to perform strenuous physical labor under all types of conditions.Experience with bucket trucks, digger derricks, trenchers and groundwork with utility line crew requiredA high awareness of safety and compliance with company safety rules is required at all timesMust reside within 20 miles of the Seminole, TX service center.Selection criteria may include testing and/or assessment.Must pass the Xcel Energy security and drug screeningXcel Energy is an equal opportunity employerAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.Individuals with a disability who need an accommodation to apply please contact us at View email address on click.appcast.io anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $30.93 to $53.16 per hour.
