Now Hiring: Caterpillar Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Experienced) – Shop & Field Service | Houston, TX Mustang Cat is actively hiring experienced Caterpillar Heavy Equipment Mechanics for both Shop Service and Field Service positions in Houston, Texas. If you’re a skilled diesel technician with a passion for fixing earthmoving equipment, this is your opportunity to build a lasting career with a trusted Caterpillar® dealership. Responsibilities Set-up, diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on Cat diesel-powered equipment and construction machinery. Shop Service: Work with mentor technicians in a fully equipped shop. Field Service: Operate from a company‑provided service truck, servicing customers at their job sites. Maintain high-quality standards and follow all safety procedures. Must own tools required to perform heavy equipment repairs. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Strong mechanical understanding of diesel engines, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Hands‑on experience with transmissions, track systems, components, and fuel systems. Previous experience with Caterpillar or competitive earthmoving equipment brands. Proficient in technical diagnostics and able to use Cat ET (Electronic Technician) or similar systems. Welding and fabrication experience: MIG welding, arc gouging, oxyacetylene torch. Familiarity with hydraulic pumps, valves, and motors. Formal training from OEM programs or accredited technical schools. Experience using diagnostic tools such as Cat ET, Cummins Insite, or competitor platforms. Benefits Up to $2,000 Sign‑On Bonus.
