What You'll Do

As Security Supervisor, you will be a role model, you will be responsible for the overall operations of the central control room at one or more residential locations. Comprehensive paid training is provided to prepare new employees for success in our team-oriented environment.

Your responsibilities may include:

Supervising the monitoring of security cameras, alarms, and other surveillance systems to ensure the safety and security of the facility.

Coordinating with supervisors, staff, and other relevant personnel through communication systems to respond to incidents or emergencies.

Managing access control systems to regulate movement within the building, ensuring only authorized individuals enter specific areas.

Developing and implementing emergency response protocols and procedures, and guiding staff during critical situations.

Overseeing the maintenance and functionality of security technology, including control panels, communication devices, and surveillance equipment.

Maintaining detailed logs and records of activities in the central control room, documenting incidents, responses, and any irregularities.

Providing training to control staff on procedures, equipment usage, and emergency response protocols.

Ensuring facility policies and procedures related to security and control are consistently followed by central control staff.

Collaborating with other managers, administrators, and department heads to ensure cohesive and effective overall facility operations.

Directly supervising control staff, including scheduling, performance evaluations, and addressing any disciplinary matters.

Monitoring the outer perimeter using cameras, sensors, and other surveillance equipment to detect any unauthorized activity or security breaches.

Conducting regular patrols along the exterior of the facility to visually inspect fences, gates, and other barriers for signs of damage or attempted breaches.

Managing and controlling access points to the facility grounds, ensuring that only authorized personnel and vehicles enter and exit the facility.

Inspecting and maintaining perimeter fencing to prevent escapes and enhance overall security.

Responding promptly to alarms, investigating the cause, and taking appropriate action.

Maintaining employee schedules that provide adequate coverage to ensure safety for both clients and employees.

Developing and implementing systems to organize and monitor work activities.

Structuring, implementation, and facilitating new employee on-the-job orientation.

Conducting effective supervisory conferences and performance evaluations with employees, documenting the content of such meetings and evaluations, and providing feedback to them.

Scheduling for employee training to ensure that all mandatory training requirements are met.

Demonstrating appropriate use of Safe Crisis Management (SCM) and providing effective supervision to staff regarding the use of SCM.

Attending staff meetings and conferences.

Supporting the Youth Services' philosophy and mission and promoting the Seven Key Principles of care.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in human services field and one (1) year work experience in residential treatment (preferred) OR
  • Associate's degree or 60 college credit hours from an accredited college/university and three (3) years' work experience with children.
  • Supervisory experience is also preferred.
  • Ability to self-start, work independently and adhere to timelines on a consistent basis with a minimum of assistance and supervision.
  • Pre-employment background checks (Criminal, Federal, State, Child Abuse), physical exam, and drug screen
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours such as evenings and weekends to meet clients and family's needs.

Other Qualifications:

  • At least twenty-one (21) years of age
  • Must have a valid Driver's License
  • Physical exams that include TB and drug testing.
  • Must pass both federal and state background checks which screen for crimes including, but not limited to drug related crimes, violent crimes, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and repeated misdemeanors.
  • Satisfactory completion of background screening and applicable pre-employment checks, including but not limited to employment and/or personal reference and driving records.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
