From urgent in situ repairs to new-build craft and major fabrications, customers count on Fraser for quality work and a safe work environment.

A Day in This Role

You partner with our Safety Manager and safety team to ensure operations meet OSHA and other regulatory expectations. In a typical day you may tour active projects to perform safety observations, join pre-job walks to identify risks, and coach crews on machine guarding and safe operation. You might facilitate a tailgate safety meeting, document findings, or respond to an incident to determine root causes and corrective actions. You’ll coordinate customer-driven safety initiatives, arrange fit tests, manage inventories of environmental and powered air-purifying respirator supplies, and keep training calendars on track—all while ensuring every teammate, contractor, and visitor understands site rules from day one.

Core Responsibilities
  • Support the Safety Manager in planning, implementing, and reviewing safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete recurring safety observation reports aligned to project duration and risk.
  • Participate in pre-task and in-progress safety walks/inspections to analyze hazards.
  • Train employees on safety expectations and safe equipment operation.
  • Recommend practical improvements to elevate workplace safety.
  • Investigate onsite incidents and identify contributing causes.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of procedures, incidents, and safety activities.
  • Lead and contribute to safety meetings and audits.
  • Deliver orientations for employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Interface with customers: develop and execute required safety programs, meetings, and initiatives; collaborate with job-site safety personnel to resolve issues.
  • Interface with medical providers and HR: coordinate transport for injured/ill employees and support the Company’s return-to-work processes.
  • Coordinate new-hire and annual safety training with the Safety Manager.
  • Conduct annual and new-employee respirator fit tests.
  • Promote and verify adherence to applicable rules, procedures, and regulations.
  • Manage inventory of environmental safety supplies.
  • Manage inventory of powered, air-purifying respirator supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills & Abilities
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication; strong customer service presence.
  • Organized with acute attention to detail; strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, occasionally high-pressure environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar tools.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Willing and able to work 2nd shift and overtime as required; weekend availability as needed.
Qualifications
  • Experience contributing to or administering a safety program (required).
  • Maritime/shipyard experience preferred but not required.
  • High school diploma or GED (required).
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in safety, industrial health, or related field (preferred).
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
  • Background check required.

This role involves grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, crawling, bending, climbing, overhead work, repetitive motions, listening/hearing, and visual acuity. You must be able to work in tight, confined areas (including manhole access) and sustain awkward positions for extended periods. Work occurs indoors and outdoors across all temperatures and may involve manufacturing equipment and environments with dusts, fogs, fumes, or gases, where respirator use may be required. Expect inclement weather at times and areas without environmental controls. Ability to move/lift/pull/push up to 50 lbs is required. Periods of desk/computer work may be prolonged.
