Why does the job exist?

This position manages the pre-retirement process for employees covered by the Educational Retirement Act by providing pre and post-retirement counseling on all aspects of retirement.


How does it get done?

The position is responsible for:


-Auditing service credit, pension applications and employers certifications
-Calculating pension benefits
-Counseling members on retirement options and benefits

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

-Experience providing exceptional customer service
-Ability to multi-task to meet strict deadlines in a high-volume office environment
-Ability to deal with difficult situations


Minimum Qualification

High School Diploma or Equivalency and three (3) years of direct experience in bookkeeping, retirement processing, benefits administration, and/or auditing. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling three (3) years may substitute for the required experience.


Employment Requirements

Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.


Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Some occasional travel is required for meetings and conferences.
