Lead Medical Supply Technician (Sterile Processing)

This is a position in the Clinical Center Nursing Department Sterile Processing Service (SPS) as a Lead Medical Supply Technician in the Clinical Center, Nursing Department (CCND). The Lead Medical Supply Technician is considered to be at the advanced performance level with respect to sterile processing. The Lead will serve as the subject matter expert to guide staff through the proper procedures. The incumbent will provide guidance and technical direction for accomplishing the team's work. You qualify at the GS-08 level if you meet one of the following qualification requirements: In order to qualify for a Lead Medical Supply Technician (Sterile Processing) position at the GS-08 level, you must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-08 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks:

1. Decontaminating and cleaning reusable medical and surgical instruments, scopes, and medical devices;
2. Disassembling, inspecting, reassembling, and testing medical instruments and equipment to ensure proper functioning;
3. Preparing and assembling surgical instrument sets, trays, and kits for sterilization or high-level disinfection;
4. Reviewing sterilization cycle results and indicators to verify that required processing parameters have been met;
5. Inspecting processed instruments, trays, sets, and equipment to ensure package integrity, proper sterilization, and compliance with established procedures and quality standards.
