Job Title: Operating Room Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: OR Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: 2 years License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (from American Heart Association) Must-Have Skills/Experience: Candidates must be comfortable supporting patients and surgeons with significant traumatic injuries. Ability to anticipate the needs for instruments, supplies, and equipment. Highly skilled in handling everything from basic and quick lap procedures to open, complicated abdominal and/or chest cavity trauma cases. Must be competent and confident in a fast-paced operating room environment. Description: This position involves working in a level III trauma center. The facility provides healthcare services to a diverse patient population of all ages. Responsibilities include assisting in surgical procedures in various specialties such as Urology, Neuro, General, GYN, Podiatry, Plastic, Ortho, Dental, and ENT. The operating room consists of multiple surgical suites equipped to handle a range of cases. Patient ratios in the operating room are typically 1:1. The electronic health record system utilized is Cerner. Candidates should expect to occasionally work weekends and be part of a variable call schedule requiring availability for 4-5 shifts per month. The role emphasizes teamwork and effective communication within the surgical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
