Commercial HVACR Service Mechanic

Imagine starting your day at a modern justice facility. You review your work orders in the CMMS, gather parts, and head out to diagnose a VAV box that isn’t meeting setpoint. Before lunch, you’ve tuned an electronic/pneumatic control loop, logged your service notes per CMMS data collection standards, and verified a fan-powered box is back in spec. By afternoon, you’re escorting a subcontractor on-site, inspecting their work for code compliance, and closing the day by testing an oil- and gas-fired water-tube boiler’s auxiliaries—pumps, deaerating tanks, air compressors, and blowers—to ensure safe, reliable operation.

As our HVAC professional, you’ll perform preventive and corrective maintenance and occasional minor installations for our client. You’ll keep building systems healthy through skilled troubleshooting, meticulous documentation, and safe work practices aligned with CGL Facility Management, LLC standards, OSHA, and client requirements.

• Execute scheduled PMs and targeted repairs from a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), documenting all work in accordance with CMMS data collection processes.
• Install, service, and maintain mechanical/HVAC components: motors, engines, pumps, belts, fans, air handling units, Variable Air Volume (VAV) and fan-powered boxes.
• Operate and sustain environmental controls (electronic/pneumatic), oil- and gas-fired water-tube boilers, and auxiliaries such as various pumps, deaerating tanks, air compressors, and blowers.
• Diagnose environmental control and stationary systems using proper inspection, testing, and monitoring techniques while demonstrating safe and proper tool use.
• Quickly learn the facility layout, system locations, and operating procedures related to environmental controls and monitoring equipment.
• Work safely and to standard—CGL Facility Management, LLC, OSHA, and client specifications.
• Verify completed work meets local building and safety codes; escort subcontractors while they complete onsite tasks.
• Keep work areas clean and safe during and after each task; complete required compliance, safety, and developmental training.
• Share knowledge with teammates—assist in training technicians from other trades and provide mentorship, oversight, and direction.
• Support additional preventive and corrective maintenance as directed by CGL Facility Management.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years of commercial or residential HVAC maintenance experience.
• Working knowledge of HVAC systems and at least one of: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or general building maintenance.
• Ability to read blueprints and as-built drawings.
• Willing and able to take occasional on-call shifts.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Certifications may be required.
• Self-motivated team contributor with strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to interact effectively with clients.
• Valid, in-state Driver’s License (DL NUMBER) required.
• EPA 608 Certification required; HVAC Certification preferred.

This role requires driving on Company business using either (1) a Company vehicle at frequencies ranging from rarely to constantly, or (2) a personal or rental vehicle to conduct Company business more than 50% of the time to perform work duties.
