Responsibilities Implement occupational therapy services under the direction of a Licensed Occupational Therapist to achieve desired patient outcomes. Provide goal‑directed and activity‑oriented treatment to promote optimum independence in self‑care, functional mobility, and daily life tasks. Ensure continuation of performance through effective education of patients, families, or support systems. Provide adaptive methods and equipment as appropriate to enhance performance. Administer treatment focusing on activities of daily living, cognition, social skills, sensory motor, fine‑motor development, and problem solving. Determine the appropriateness of patient’s response to treatment and consult with a licensed occupational therapist regarding modifications to the plan of care. Identify patient/family needs for other services and refer accordingly. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy assistant program and hold a current license to practice occupational therapy assistant in the state of Virginia. 1–2 years of experience working in pediatrics preferred, but open to training new graduates. Ability to work with some degree of independence within established policies, procedures, and professional guidelines. Physical Requirements Must be able to travel to and from assigned cases, including driving personal vehicle, walking, and/or using public transportation such as a bus or train. Ability to climb and descend staircases. Ability to lift 10pounds regularly. Ability to sit on the floor, kneel, and/or crawl for extended periods.
