About the Role:

The Dispatch role is critical in ensuring the efficient coordination and management of transportation and warehousing operations within the organization. This position focuses on overseeing the scheduling and routing of fleet vehicles to meet delivery deadlines while maintaining compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The successful candidate will act as a central communication hub between drivers, warehouse personnel, and management to optimize operational workflows and resolve any logistical challenges promptly. By leveraging transportation management systems and data analysis, the dispatcher will contribute to reducing costs and improving service quality. Ultimately, this role supports the seamless movement of goods, enhancing customer satisfaction and operational excellence across the transportation network.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Proven experience in dispatching within the transportation and warehousing industry.
• Strong knowledge of DOT compliance requirements and transportation regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel for data tracking and reporting.
• Experience with transportation management and fleet management systems.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in transportation or logistics management.
• Experience in operations management or team leadership roles.
• Familiarity with warehousing processes and inventory control.
• Advanced skills in data analysis and reporting tools.
• Demonstrated ability to build and lead effective teams.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate daily dispatch operations by assigning routes and schedules to drivers based on delivery priorities and fleet availability.
• Ensure strict adherence to DOT compliance regulations, maintaining accurate records and documentation for audits and inspections.
• Monitor fleet status and driver performance, addressing any issues such as delays, vehicle maintenance needs, or safety concerns in real-time.
• Collaborate with warehousing teams to synchronize loading and unloading activities, optimizing turnaround times and inventory flow.
• Utilize transportation management software and Microsoft Excel to track shipments, generate reports, and analyze operational data for continuous improvement.
• Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and internal teams to provide updates, resolve conflicts, and support team-building initiatives.
• Support operations management by identifying opportunities to enhance dispatch processes and contribute to strategic planning.

Skills:

In this role, the candidate will apply their expertise in DOT compliance to ensure all transportation activities meet legal and safety standards, preventing costly violations. Transportation and fleet management skills will be essential for optimizing vehicle utilization and scheduling, directly impacting delivery efficiency. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel will be used daily to analyze shipment data, generate performance reports, and support decision-making processes. Warehousing knowledge will help coordinate loading and unloading operations, ensuring smooth inventory flow and minimizing delays. Strong operations management and team-building skills will enable the dispatcher to foster collaboration among drivers, warehouse staff, and management, driving continuous improvement and operational success.
