As a Custodian at Whitworth University, you will be an integral part of our Facilities Services team, responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and attractive campus environment. There are two openings available, with schedules as follows: Thursday to Monday working from 2 PM to 10:30 PM, and Friday to Tuesday working from 2 PM to 10:30 PM. The final schedules will be confirmed with the selected candidates before their first day of employment, ensuring that all arrangements are tailored to university operations and their individual availability.Core ResponsibilitiesCleaning tasks encompass, but are not limited to, vacuuming, buffing, stripping, waxing, carpet care, and polishing across various buildings such as administrative, academic, resident halls, athletic facilities, and theme houses.Move furnishings, equipment, and other items as needed.Shovel snow and remove ice from sidewalks up to 20 feet from building entrances.Maintain inventory levels.Identify and submit work orders via electronic and/or written documentation.Communicate daily assignments to student workers who may work in your building.Provide excellent customer service to all Whitworth University constituents, including students, employees, guests, and vendors.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications and Core CompetenciesWhitworth welcomes candidates from diverse educational backgrounds, valuing the unique skills and knowledge they bring, irrespective of their educational paths.A personal commitment to the Christian faith and the integration of faith and learning.A commitment to the educational mission of Whitworth University as a Christian liberal arts institution affiliated with the Presbyterian Church.Physical ability to perform all job duties with or without accommodation, including lifting and pulling up to 50 lbs.A high degree of integrity and trustworthiness.Ability to use a variety of cleaning supplies, materials, and equipment to perform required duties.Working knowledge of custodial methods and the proper use of supplies, materials, and equipment.A positive and professional attitude as a member of the Custodial Services Team.Flexibility and curiosity to learn new tasks and procedures.Capable of working independently with little direct supervision.A commitment to applying safe work practices in all working environments.Preferred QualificationsSix months of experience in building or institutional custodial work is preferred.A valid driver's license.SDS knowledge preferred (OSHA on how to properly handle and use cleaning chemicals).Other DetailsSchedules Full-time (1.0 FTE) | 12 months | 40 hours per week Schedule 1: Thursday - Monday | 2 PM to 10:30 PM Schedule 2: Friday - Tuesday | 2 PM to 10:30 PMWhitworth University is a Christian liberal arts university.
