Maintenance Manager

Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Maintenance Manager to support both facility operations and production equipment reliability. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a startup environment - rolling up their sleeves to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, establish preventive maintenance programs, and help stand up maintenance processes from the ground up. You will oversee a small team while acting as the primary technical resource for equipment and facility maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead day-to-day maintenance operations across production equipment and facility systems (HVAC, compressors, utilities, etc.)
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues to minimize downtime
• Perform hands-on maintenance and repairs as needed (not solely supervisory)
• Develop and implement a preventative maintenance (PM) program for equipment and facility assets
• Identify and help implement a CMMS or maintenance tracking system, including warranty tracking
• Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and support
• Support equipment installation, commissioning, and ramp-up as the facility grows
• Ensure maintenance activities align with safety standards and operational best practices
• Train and mentor a small team of junior/apprentice technicians (2-3 direct reports)
• Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to increase reliability and efficiency

Required Skills & Experience
• 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting experience (compressors, rotating equipment, etc.)
• Solid working knowledge of basic electrical systems and troubleshooting
• Hands-on experience performing maintenance and repairs (not just managing)
• Experience building or managing preventative maintenance programs
• Ability to diagnose issues and determine when to escalate to specialists/vendors
• Experience supporting facility systems (HVAC, utilities, building systems)
• Comfortable working in a startup or evolving environment with limited structure
• Basic leadership experience (mentoring or overseeing small teams)


Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience selecting or implementing a CMMS / maintenance tracking software
• Background in advanced manufacturing or high-spec production environments
• Experience supporting new facility launches, expansions, or equipment commissioning
• Exposure to medium or high-voltage equipment or transformer-related manufacturing
• Formal technical training (mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance discipline)
