The School District Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, overseeing, and performing maintenance and repair activities across all district facilities. This position provides daily leadership to maintenance staff while also participating in hands-on work. The Coordinator ensures that buildings, grounds, and related systems remain safe, functional, and well-maintained to support students, staff, and community members.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Supervision & Leadership

• Provide daily leadership, guidance, and support to maintenance staff.
• Assign, schedule, and monitor work orders and maintenance tasks.
• Train new staff and support ongoing skill development of the maintenance team.
• Foster a positive, collaborative, and inclusive work environment.

Maintenance Operations

• Perform maintenance tasks including (but not limited to) electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, general repairs, preventative maintenance, and grounds care.
• Conduct regular facility inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
• Coordinate and communicate with building administrators, custodial staff, contractors, and vendors.
• ? Ensure compliance with district policies, safety regulations, and relevant building codes.

Communication & Coordination

• Maintain clear, timely communication with administrators, staff, and maintenance personnel.
• Prioritize work orders based on urgency, school schedules, and safety needs.
• Collaborate effectively with individuals and teams across the district.
• ? Document maintenance activities, completed work, and ongoing needs.

Emergency & Weather Response

• Participate in on-call rotation for emergencies, urgent repairs, and weather-related incidents.
• Assist with snow removal, storm response, and emergency building operations as needed.
• Provide guidance and support to staff during emergency or after-hours situations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize competing tasks.
• Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
• Ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups of people, including staff, vendors, and community members.
• Demonstrated experience in general building maintenance or a skilled trade (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry).
• Working knowledge of facility maintenance best practices, safety procedures, and applicable codes.
• V alid driver's license.

Work Schedule

• Full-time, Monday Friday
• On-call responsibilities for emergencies and weather-related events
• Occasional evening or weekend work depending on district needs

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• ?Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and work in various indoor and outdoor conditions.
• Ability to operate maintenance tools, equipment, and vehicles.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous supervisory or lead maintenance experience.
• ?Experience in a school district or public sector setting.
• Certifications in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or other skilled trades.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and facility management software.

Salary

• Starting at $80,000 and above depending on experience
