Physical Therapist (PT) - Outpatient

Job Details

This position is for a Physical Therapist working in an outpatient setting, focusing on adult and geriatric patients. The role requires experience in various physical therapy techniques and knowledge of specific patient populations.

Shift Information

• Hours: 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. (8-hour shifts)
• Schedule: Monday through Friday
• Weekend Requirements: Confirm with the unit

Responsibilities

The Physical Therapist will perform the following duties:

• Provide direct patient care to adults and geriatric populations.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments, evaluations, and create individualized plans of care.
• Document patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
• Educate patients and their families on home exercise programs and safety measures.
• Utilize adaptive and assistive devices to promote patient recovery.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in outpatient physical therapy.
• Experience in a community hospital setting is required.
• Experience with geriatric, neurologic, and orthopedic patient populations is essential.
• Required certifications: BLS.
• Preferred experience in Manual Therapy, Dry Needling, and Hand Therapy.
• Maryland state or compact PT license is required upon submittal.

Experience Requirements

• Experience in adaptive-device and assistive-device applications.
• Skills in body mechanics, pain management, sensory response, skin integrity, strength testing, and vital sign assessments.
• Competence in documentation regarding assessment, discharge planning, goal setting, and time management.
• Knowledge of patient and family education on medication, safety, and recognition of abuse signs.

Equipment Requirements

• Crutch and gait-belt experience.
• Lower-extremity prosthetic knowledge.
• Experience with shoulder slings and soft/hard collars.
• Familiarity with traction tables.

Additional Information

The position entails floating within scope to meet facility needs, with a patient-to-therapist ratio of 1:1. Up to 2 pre-approved time-off requests are permitted per contract.

Scrub color for this position is wine. The charting system utilized is Net Health and PowerChart/Cerner.
