Cost Estimator

The Junior Project Cost Estimator supports the development, review, and validation of construction cost estimates for capital improvement projects within a public sector program. This role assists in preparing detailed estimates across various project phases, including conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction documents, while coordinating with project managers, architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure accuracy and alignment with scope, budget, and schedule. Responsibilities include quantity take-offs, cost analysis, reviewing contractor bids, supporting value engineering efforts, maintaining cost databases, and contributing to budget tracking and reporting. Duties: Prepare preliminary independent cost estimates of projects for comparison with designer or contractor for PM/CM to establish negotiating position. Assist in preparing change order estimates for Owner Authorized Representatives to establish negotiating position Provides support in price negotiations Prepares claim analysis and estimates Prepares detailed estimates of construction costs based on drawings, specifications and sketches Assists in reviewing contractor’s claims and proposals for merit and accountability Conducts research on recent cost and price changes in supplies and services Required Experience: Two (2) years full-time paid professional experience in construction estimating of facilities or School Construction. Knowledge of current local construction labor and material costs Experience in developing and estimating the scope of work for change orders Ability to compare the independent cost estimate with contractor proposal to identify differences Ability to develop scope of work based on RFI/RFC answers and estimates the detailed costs of those scopes of work independent of the contractor proposal Good oral and written communication skills Fact-find and in-depth skills Required Education: Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, engineering, or construction management #J-18808-Ljbffr Morgner Construction Management Corp.
