Experienced AssemblerLocation: Newport News, Virginia, United StatesSalary Range: $74,297.60 to $85,196.80The selected candidate must have the ability to:Perform hydrostatic testing of components and assemblies in accordance with engineering requirements, and test proceduresOperate magnetic base drills and other in-place machining equipment to perform in-place drilling, reaming, line boring, and tappingInstall and align industrial maritime machinery using engineering drawings, and installation specificationsRead, interpret, and work from mechanical drawings, and fabrication printsPerform fabrications tasks including cutting, fitting, and grindingVerify dimensions and tolerances using precision measuring equipmentTroubleshoot assembly issues and recommend corrective actionsMaintain a safe, clean, and organized work area while complying with all safety and quality requirementsAssemble and disassemble mechanical components such as valves, gearboxes, doors, pumps, etc.Must Have:Must have 3+ years of experience in assembly or outside machining / relevant experienceMust be able to use precision instruments efficiently, and lift objects up to 40 poundsThis job requires limited bending, standing, squatting and climbingNice to Have:Experience in naval, heavy industrial or shipbuilding environments and experience with machinery alignment, familiarity with quality control and test records a plusWhy HII:We build the world's most powerful, survivable naval ships and defense technology solutions that safeguard our seas, sky, land, space and cyber.
