We are seeking an experienced Customer Quality Engineer to serve as the primary quality liaison between our manufacturing facility and assigned automotive OEM and Tier 1 customers. This position will play a key role in managing customer quality concerns, corrective actions, customer performance metrics, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate has experience in automotive quality systems, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both customers and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary quality contact for assigned automotive customers.
• Manage customer complaints from initial notification through containment, root-cause analysis, corrective action, and closure.
• Lead structured problem-solving activities using 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, and other root-cause analysis tools.
• Coordinate containment activities, including sorting, inspection, segregation, controlled shipping, and certification.
• Prepare and submit customer corrective-action reports within required deadlines.
• Work cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Engineering, Laboratory, Maintenance, Supplier Quality, and other departments.
• Monitor customer scorecards, PPM, complaints, quality ratings, and other performance metrics.
• Investigate negative customer performance trends and develop corrective-action plans.
• Support customer audits, supplier assessments, quality meetings, and customer visits.
• Support compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, AIAG Core Tools, and applicable customer-specific requirements.
• Participate in internal audits, process audits, product audits, and manufacturing process reviews.
• Analyze quality data and recurring defects to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Help implement error-proofing, process controls, inspection improvements, and preventive actions.
• Work with Manufacturing and Engineering to reduce variation, scrap, rework, customer complaints, and Cost of Poor Quality.
• Escalate significant quality concerns to Quality and Plant Management and initiate appropriate containment measures.
• Maintain accurate records of customer complaints, corrective actions, containment activities, and lessons learned.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree, Bachelor of Science Degree, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Experience in automotive manufacturing quality preferred.
• Knowledge of automotive quality systems, customer-specific requirements, drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Experience with 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, and root-cause analysis.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with customers and cross-functional internal teams.
• Ability to manage multiple quality issues and deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
