Description of Work Please note that all positions close at 12:00 AM on the posted closing date. You must apply by 11:59 PM prior to the posted closing date. The major functions of this position will be to serve as backup in creating requisitions in SAP, database entry, daily maintenance management system task number assignment, entering payroll, service entry sheets, inventory issues, accident report processing, documentation of meeting minutes, file retention, purging and maintaining the general files for this office, call monitoring and routing. They must provide excellent customer service and be able to operate general office equipment. Must be able to work in an environment with little supervision throughout the day. Minimal data processing errors are required because of the significant impact they have on daily operations of this department and its personnel. This position will also serve as co-coordinator for the Adopt-A-Highway Program for Division 9. Additional Expectations: Good communication skills are required in both verbal and written activities. Possess general mathematical skills, significant vocabulary/grammar skills for proofreading correspondence, reports, and other documents. Ability to schedule and coordinate a variety of appointments, meetings, and or conferences. Applicant should be computer literate and possess experience using modern word processing, spreadsheet, email, and internet software, and have the ability to learn and apply DOT computer programs such as SAP, Ariba and SharePoint. Customer service experience (over telephone, personal, and electronic) is also preferred. Candidates should possess composition skills, attention to detail, and need for consistency with data entry and correspondence. Management prefers a candidate with customer service experience and a personable attitude. Must be able to work in an inside environment including being exposed to significant sitting for long periods of time. This position requires a valid driver’s license due to required occasional business-related travel and the need to operate a company or personal vehicle while conducting administrative duties. Responsibilities may include duties such as traveling between company locations or work sites, attending meetings or training sessions, delivering or retrieving documents, supplies, or equipment, making postal runs, and completing other off-site administrative or operational tasks as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Salary Grade and Salary Range: NC02 $31,200-$51,249 Management prefers applicants with the following: Customer service experience, including resolving customer issues Experience with Microsoft Office using programs such as Outlook, Word, and Excel Experience completing and/or maintaining records and reports Experience reviewing detailed documents and records for accuracy and completeness Experience with letter writing, using correct spelling, punctuation, and proofreading Minimum Education and Experience Some state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience.” If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both.
