Description Job Summary St. Joseph Catholic School is seeking a highly organized, collaborative, and student-centered educator to serve as our Middle School / High School Spanish Teacher. The successful candidate will create engaging learning experiences that foster language acquisition, cultural appreciation, and a love of learning while building meaningful relationships with students and families. This educator will contribute positively to a professional faculty team committed to academic excellence, Catholic education, and the formation of the whole child. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic teacher who communicates effectively, works collaboratively, embraces continuous improvement, and approaches the dynamic nature of school life with flexibility, professionalism, and a servant's heart. Ministerial Character Catholic schools in the Diocese of Austin are canonically obedient to the Bishop and assist him in fulfilling his ministry and canonical obligations. Pastors and school administrators serve as leaders of the schools to make Christ's mission present and enduring in the schools. In order to fulfill Christ's mission, the school leaders employ suitable, chosen collaborators, sharing with them Christ's mission and entrusting to them various responsibilities. Positions employed in this School help extend the ministry of the School leaders in particular ways as outlined in the job description. The employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the School leaders in the performance of their ministry and, therefore, engages in ministry for the Church. Essential Duties Teach Middle School and High School Spanish courses in accordance with diocesan and school curriculum expectations. Plan and deliver engaging, well-organized lessons that encourage active participation, critical thinking, and student success. Create a positive, structured, and welcoming classroom environment where students feel known, supported, and challenged. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners. Assess student progress regularly and provide meaningful, timely feedback. Maintain accurate lesson plans, attendance, grades, and student records. Communicate proactively, professionally, and respectfully with parents regarding student progress, classroom expectations, and student needs. Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum development, interdisciplinary learning, and school-wide initiatives. Contribute positively to the culture of the school by supporting colleagues, celebrating the success of others, and working toward shared goals. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, school events, liturgical celebrations, and other assigned responsibilities. Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability while responding professionally to the evolving needs of students and the school community. Uphold school policies and actively support the mission and Catholic identity of St. Joseph Catholic School. Minimum Qualifications Eligible to work in the United States. Able to successfully complete all Diocese of Austin employment requirements, including background screening and Safe Environment requirements. Demonstrates a commitment to supporting the mission of Catholic education. Education Bachelor's degree required. Degree in Spanish, Education, or a closely related field preferred. Texas teaching certification or the ability to obtain certification preferred. Experience Experience teaching Middle School and/or High School students preferred. Experience developing engaging, student-centered instruction. Experience communicating effectively with parents and guardians. Experience working collaboratively within a professional learning community preferred. A commitment to continuous professional growth and lifelong learning. Certifications and Training Must meet the minimum requirements for teaching field as set forth by the Diocese and TCCB ED. Must submit an Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) application within the first week of employment, participate in an EIM workshop within 60 days, and maintain EIM compliance during the entire term of employment. Must meet staff development guidelines as set forth by the Diocese and school administration. Must complete Religion Certification Part 1 within two years of the date of hire, completing a minimum of 25 hours each year Working Conditions All employees of the school are engaged in ministry and closely tied to the principal in the exercise of the principal's ministry and obligations to the school. The school is an at-will employer. Working in a fast-paced environment with priorities and plans that may change rapidly. Working on weekends, evenings, and some holidays may be required. Will be exposed to religious ceremonies, conduct, and speech including Christian prayer and Catholic liturgical celebrations. Staff meetings and other functions may open and close with Christian prayer. Will be required to adhere to established dress codes and conduct standards. All buildings and vehicles owned by the school are tobacco free. May be required to use personal or school vehicles to drive to off-site locations. Traveling within and outside the school to meetings and other events may be required, and travel may include overnight lodging. Must maintain a work schedule that maximizes availability to students, parents, colleagues, and administration. Will be required to work in multiple educational settings. Employee Certification All employees must adhere to the Catholic Schools Standards of Conduct, the Diocese of Austin EIM policies, and the social, ethical, and moral teachings of the Roman Catholic Church as interpreted by the Bishop of Austin.
