PHYSICIAN AND SURGEON (SAFETY)

Physician and Surgeon (Safety) – Retired Annuitant Salary: $20,746.00 – $27,430.00 per month. New to State candidates hired at minimum salary of the classification or minimum alternate range when applicable. Location: Department of State Hospitals – Coalinga, California. In Office. Working Conditions Work any shift and schedule, including overtime and floating to other work locations as needed. 12‑hour shifts and other alternate schedules available based on staffing needs. Maximum of 960 hours per fiscal year (July 1 – June 30). Candidate must be available at least two 10‑hour days per week. Responsibilities Provide preventive, routine, specialized, and emergency medical care to residents of the Department of State Hospitals – Coalinga. Make professional medical and surgical decisions and appropriate referrals for services not performed at DSH‑Coalinga. Maintain professional communication with physicians, consultants, nurses, and other personnel. Ensure compliance with generally accepted professional standards of care. Minimum Requirements Physician and Surgeon (Safety) classification. Retired State Civil Service employee eligible to serve as a Retired Annuitant. Valid medical license.
