Truck Driver/Warehouse Worker

Drive district vehicles to transport textbooks, instructional materials, furniture, equipment, supplies, and various warehouse items to campuses and departments across the district. Assist with warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, inventorying, loading, unloading, and distributing textbooks, testing materials, and other instructional materials in a safe, accurate, and efficient manner.

Set up and take down for school events, and perform hauling and other related tasks as directed. Maintain warehouse organization and support the daily operations of the Warehouse Department. These duties are based on the current responsibilities of Beaumont ISD's Maintenance and Operations.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Valid Texas Driver's License required
• Commercial Driver License (CDL) preferred or ability to obtain as assigned
• Must maintain an insurable driving record

Special Knowledge/Skills

• Knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory procedures
• Ability to safely operate district trucks, forklifts, pallet jacks, and warehouse equipment
• Ability to lift and move heavy materials, textbooks, furniture, and supplies
• Knowledge of proper loading, unloading, and securing procedures
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Effective organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to maintain accurate inventory and delivery records
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of safety procedures and safe material handling practices
• Ability to operate a computer and electronic inventory systems
• Knowledge of inventory and distribution systems
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and customers

Experience:

• Experience operating delivery trucks or warehouse equipment preferred
• Experience in warehouse, shipping/receiving, or textbook distribution preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

• Operate district vehicles to deliver textbooks, instructional materials, equipment, furniture, supplies, and warehouse items to district facilities and campuses.
• Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently.
• Inspect vehicles before and after operation and report maintenance needs promptly.
• Maintain delivery schedules and complete assigned routes on time.
• Assist with moving furniture, equipment, and materials for campus and departmental needs.
• Pick up surplus, damaged, or outdated instructional materials and return them to the warehouse.
• Maintain delivery logs, inventory records, and related documentation.
• Coordinate the setup and breakdown of tables, chairs, tarps, stages, and tents for special events; processes, collects, and distributes textbooks, testing materials, and instructional resources to campuses.
• Receive, inspect, inventory, and properly store incoming textbooks, instructional materials, and related supplies.
• Pull, package, and prepare textbook and supply orders for delivery to district campuses.
• Assist with textbook inventory, barcoding, and distribution processes.
• Organize warehouse stock and maintain accurate inventory levels.
• Restock shelves and storage areas as materials are received.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely.
• Maintain warehouse cleanliness and organization, and ensure safe working conditions.
• Assist with annual inventory counts and warehouse audits.
• Remove and dispose of obsolete or damaged materials in accordance with district procedures.
• Collect, organize, and palletize surplus and obsolete textbooks; dispose of and recycle outdated instructional materials in accordance with district procedures.
• Coordinate with the IMA Coordinator regarding textbook adoptions and the processing of requests for Instructional Materials Allotment resources.
• Transport AV equipment to campuses and retrieve equipment requiring repair, replacement, or removal.
• Deliver supplies, equipment, instructional materials, and other items to schools and departments in a timely and efficient manner.
• Collect and recover surplus and salvage materials throughout the District.
• Assist with the annual physical inventory of warehouse stock, equipment, and the Book Warehouse.
• Follow all district safety procedures and transportation regulations.
• Use proper lifting techniques and required personal protective equipment.
• Maintain compliance with district policies, procedures, and vehicle operation standards.
• Report accidents, injuries, safety hazards, and equipment concerns immediately.
• Carry out all duties in accordance with BISD Board of Education policies and administrative regulations.
• Maintain effective working relationships with district staff and vendors.
• Demonstrate professionalism, dependability, and good customer service.
• Assist other Maintenance and Operations departments as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
