Tactical Buyer

Contract Length: 6 months Approved Locations: Merritt Island, FL, Melbourne, FL or Kent, WA Work Setup: onsite

Our client is a leading organization supporting highly regulated government and aerospace programs, committed to delivering quality products and services through operational excellence and strong supplier partnerships. The Tactical Buyer plays a critical role in ensuring materials, components, and services are procured efficiently to support production schedules, program milestones, and customer commitments.

Tactical Buyer Responsibilities

  • Execute tactical procurement activities for government contract programs while ensuring compliance with FAR, DFARS, SOX, and company policies.
  • Manage the full purchase order lifecycle, including requisition processing, order placement, supplier follow-up, expediting, and issue resolution.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, terms and conditions, and contract flow-down requirements to achieve cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Program Management teams to support production requirements and program execution.
  • Conduct supplier performance evaluations and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain.
  • Develop price analyses and price reasonableness determinations in accordance with FAR requirements.
  • Identify supply chain risks, implement mitigation strategies, and maintain contingency plans.
  • Maintain accurate procurement documentation and support government audits and compliance reviews.

Tactical Buyer Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field with 3+ years of experience, or a Master's degree with 1+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience as a Tactical Buyer or in procurement within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, government contracting requirements, and procurement compliance.
  • Strong negotiation, supplier management, and contract administration skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, statements of work, and technical documentation.
  • Experience supporting negotiations involving pricing, schedules, terms and conditions, and customer flow-down requirements.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 quality standards.
  • Proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet demanding deadlines.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US for any employer.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience procuring avionics, machined parts, raw materials, or aerospace components.
  • Familiarity with Certified Cost or Pricing Data requirements.
  • Experience using Costpoint, Exostar, Windchill, SharePoint, JIRA, and Tableau.
