ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in intensive care nursing, particularly with trauma, neuro-strokes, and head injuries. This position requires expertise in ICP monitoring and the management of ventriculostomies. The nurse will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to ICU patients, ensuring safety and comfort.
• Monitor and interpret vital signs and lab results.
• Administer medications and intravenous (IV) therapies, including titration of vasopressors and sedation.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to plan and implement patient care.
• Participate in patient float assignments as necessary, including PCU and CICU units.
• Stay abreast of the latest patient care techniques and interventions.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience required; 2-3 years strongly preferred.
• Experience in trauma care and neuro-strokes is essential.
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS; PALS preferred (mandatory after 6 months if extended). Must have experience with ICP monitoring and ventriculostomies.
• Travel experience is preferred but not mandatory; candidates with strong backgrounds in larger, fast-paced facilities will be considered.

Work Environment

This position involves 12-hour night shifts with a guaranteed minimum of 36 hours per week. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:1-2, with a focus on teamwork and communication. The unit is known for its high level of activity and need for effective collaboration. The charge nurse will cover administrative duties and is not assigned patient care.

Additional Information

• All travelers must successfully complete a proctored Dysrhythmia Test on the first day of work.
• Floating requirements to other units may be necessary based on patient care needs.
• Unit dress code is navy scrubs.
• One day of unit-specific orientation will be provided, with additional orientation available if needed.
