Yard Worker

We are looking for a reliable Warehouse & Yard Specialist to handle heavy industrial metal inventory (sheet, plate, bar, and structural stock). You will operate heavy equipment, load/unload trucks, and safely move material between our warehouse, cutting bays, and outdoor yard.

Key Responsibilities

• Heavy Equipment Operation: Safely run industrial forklifts, side-loaders, and overhead cranes to move bulky metal stock.

• Loading & Unloading: Unload flatbeds/box trucks, verify shipments, and secure outgoing customer orders safely.

• Yard & Staging: Organize indoor/outdoor storage areas, stage material for cutting saws, and keep inventory accessible.

• Order Picking & Inventory: Pull orders using RF scanners, verify stock dimensions, and track metal heat numbers/tags.

• Safety & Maintenance: Complete daily equipment checks, keep aisles free of scrap, and follow all OSHA/PPE safety rules.

Qualifications

• Experience: 2+ years operating sit-down forklifts in a warehouse, lumber yard, steel center, or heavy industrial setting

• Skills: Ability to read work orders, use tape measures/calipers, and operate RF scanners.

• Physical: Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions; able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

Heavy Material Handling & Equipment Operation: Safely operate heavy-duty industrial forklifts, side-loaders, and overhead cranes to move, stage, and load bulky metal stock—including sheets, plates, rods, bars, tubes, and structural steel.

Loading & Unloading Operations: Unload incoming freight from commercial flatbeds and box trucks, verify inbound deliveries against shipping documents, and load outgoing orders according to strict safety weight-distribution guidelines.

Facility & Equipment Maintenance: Conduct mandatory pre-shift inspection checks on forklifts and material handling equipment; assist the maintenance team with basic operational upkeep and keep yard drives and warehouse aisles clear of metal scrap, banding, and hazards.
