About the Position

Job Title: Cardiovascular Invasive Technician Profession: Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Specialty: Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 10 hours AM Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Minimum 2 years of strong electrophysiology experience required License: Not specified Certifications: ACLS (AHA Only), BLS (AHA Only), ARRT (R) or RCIS or RCEST Must-Have: - Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrophysiology - Strong electrophysiology experience required Description: The Cardiovascular Invasive Technician is responsible for surgically scrubbing in and assisting with equipment. Assists with radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures as a secondary assignment. Prepares the room and equipment, transports, and monitors patients. May handle medications in accordance with responsibilities. Essential functions of the role include: Assisting Physicians with arteriograms/catheterizations, permanent pacemaker implantations, diagnostic and interventional procedures, peripheral and coronary interventions, and thrombolytic therapy. Related duties include preparing and maintaining sterile fields for lab procedures, printing film, and calculating stenosis on peripheral cases. Circulates in procedure rooms and collects data on appropriate forms. Monitors the patient's ECG and vital signs while in the catheterization lab, notifying Physicians of variances, and providing emergency procedures as needed. Performs pre-and post-procedure care. Monitors and orients patients for specialized catheterization procedures. Answers related questions to ensure patient comfort. Transports patients to and from the procedural area. Communicates relevant medical information to physicians and other staff through required documentation on specified medical record forms. Records and enters data into the computer and calculates catheterization data, gradients, cardiac outputs, and peripheral stenosis. Follows national and state radiation protection regulations for patients, self, and staff. Maintains inventory of and orders procedure room supplies. Ensures procedure rooms are adequately stocked and equipment is safe to use. Key success factors include: One year of clinical experience preferred. Use of basic office equipment and computer literacy required. Ability to multi-task and demonstrate problem-solving skills. Ability to demonstrate precision and flexibility. Knowledge and ability to apply complex invasive cardiac and vascular principles, instrumentation, and techniques. Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.
