Our hospital offers advanced specialty services including Behavior, Emergency and Critical Care/ ICU, Internal Medicine, Oncology, and Surgery/Orthopedics. We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, serving Miami-Dade County and the surrounding South Florida community. TPHS Miami is looking for a Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery TEAM! About You The success of your patients’ care matters to you, and your success matters to us. Your Experience & Skills Veterinary Technician licensure (CVT/LVT/RVT) preferred, NOT required! Experienced Veterinary Assistants encouraged to apply! 1-2 years of clinical experience in a specialty service is required Surgery and anesthesia experience highly preferred A degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program is preferred; or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Role Responsibilities Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients Assist surgeons and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow Prepare patients for surgery, including patient assessments, IV catheter placement, blood collection, and anesthesia preparation Monitor anesthesia and patient vital signs throughout surgical procedures Assist with surgical procedures in accordance with Florida Veterinary Practice Act guidelines Maintain sterile surgical environments and ensure proper instrument preparation and care Communicate with clients regarding individualized pet health concerns, treatment plans, medications, and Thrive Membership options Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records utilizing hospital practice management systems Obtain relevant patient histories and client information Use safe restraint techniques and uphold hospital safety protocols Maintain clean, organized, and sterile treatment, surgical, and laboratory areas Mentor and support fellow team members while contributing to a positive hospital culture You’ll Grow With Us Skills Here, you can grow your career as best fits you through access to comprehensive learning and skillset programs.
