Communications Specialist
University Alaska-Fairbanks
Creative Communicator Position
Are you a creative communicator who enjoys turning ideas into engaging content while keeping projects organized and moving forward? UAF Enrollment Communication and CRM is looking for a collaborative and detail-oriented professional to help develop and coordinate communications that connect prospective and current students with the information and resources they need.
In this role, you'll work with colleagues and campus partners across UAF to develop thoughtful, strategic communications for a variety of audiences, programs, projects and events.
You'll manage communication projects from start to finish — coordinating workflows, assigning and tracking tasks, gathering feedback, and keeping projects on schedule. You'll also help develop multichannel communication campaigns using tools such as HTML email and SMS templates, web forms, social media, print materials, and event-planning resources.
Creativity is an important part of this position. You'll draft and edit promotional copy, select graphics and imagery, and use design software to create original assets for marketing and outreach materials. You'll participate in a collaborative review process to ensure communications are accurate, consistent, engaging, and aligned with the needs of each office.
The position also provides administrative support for the team, including assisting with contracts, travel and reimbursements, interdepartmental billing, procurement processes, and general office operations.
If you enjoy balancing creative communication with project coordination, building relationships across teams, and managing multiple priorities in a collaborative environment, this could be a great opportunity to contribute to the student experience at UAF.
To thrive in this role, you'll bring strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate workflows, manage competing priorities, and move complex projects forward with cross-functional teams. You'll be a collaborative communicator who can work effectively with a variety of stakeholders, contribute constructive feedback, and help turn ideas into polished communications. You'll also have experience creating engaging, multi-channel content using graphic design tools, along with strong writing skills and the ability to develop content that follows established brand standards, voice, and style. A solid understanding of strategic marketing, digital and social media, content management, and institutional brand management will be important for success. The ideal candidate will have professional experience in higher education promotion, marketing, or outreach, as well as professional experience working in a project management capacity.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communication, art, design or similar field required, or equivalent training. Master's degree preferred.
