An inpatient pharmacy technician position is available at a reputable healthcare facility in Houston, TX, for a 13-week contract starting March 9. The role is scheduled from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM with rotating weekends and is focused on supporting pharmacy operations in an inpatient setting.


Key Responsibilities:

• Assist pharmacists with preparation, repackaging, compounding, filling, and delivery of medications appropriate for patients from newborns to adults.
• Manage controlled substances including procurement, record keeping, storage, and distribution.
• Verify medication doses by accurately entering patient data such as diagnosis, weight, allergies, and body surface area.
• Follow aseptic techniques and infection control measures in sterile product preparation, maintaining certification with a minimum score of 90% on annual recertification exams.
• Ensure accuracy of medications prepared and support pharmacists in their final verification.
• Demonstrate proficiency in batch and prescription order entry.
• Collaborate with Pharmacy Support Services to maintain adequate medication stock and adhere to established stock replacement and nonformulary procedures.
• Obtain necessary pharmacist checks and assign appropriate labels to medications.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Active Texas Pharmacy Technician license.
• National certification as a Pharmacy Technician (e.g., PTCB).
• ACPE IV sterile compounding certificate.
• Minimum of 2 years recent experience in inpatient pharmacy settings.

This contract opportunity offers a competitive compensation rate with an increase to $55.00 per hour (less applicable fees) and supports travel arrangements as needed.
