Master Truck Service Technician - HOLT Truck Centers Department: HOLT Truck (TRUCK) Employment Type: Full Time Location: HTT - Pharr Reporting To: Daniel Garces Jr. Description The Level 5 Master Certified Technician is the highest level of technical expertise within the organization. This role is responsible for advanced diagnostics, complex problem-solving, and driving technical excellence across the operation. The Master Technician plays a critical role in mentoring, training, and supporting overall shop performance. Master-level position – Typically possesses more than eight years of experience and/or has demonstrated advanced job‑relevant knowledge and skills. A Master Technician exhibits expert‑level understanding of the field’s standards, technical concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on significant experience and sound judgment to independently plan, lead, and accomplish goals. Handles a wide variety of advanced, complex, and technical tasks; proactively identifies solutions, takes initiative, and functions with minimal to no supervision. Also provides guidance and mentorship to less experienced technicians. The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices daily: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self‑development. Essential Functions Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission Troubleshoots and diagnoses complex engine malfunctions, performs Failure Analysis of failed engine components with minimum to no supervision Performs detailed engine and related equipment repairs on trucks and trailers with direction and minimum to no supervision Disassembles, inspects, determines parts required, and reassembles to factory specifications Provides quality control/assurance inspections of completed tasks to include road testing Uses computers and related software to assist in diagnosing and reprograming engines Prepares and completes documentation for service reports, timecards, parts requisition and returns Interprets and utilizes information from operating, maintenance, online resources, and service manuals/bulletins Operates equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations Maintains all company equipment, tools, and vehicle in a good, clean, and working order Communicates job progress to supervisor and customer as needed Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs Projects professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance Trains and mentors lower level Technicians Completes all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety training Consistently maintains an average rework of 0.5% Ensures a positive average variance consistently Works safely always and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards Requires regular and punctual employee attendance Performs other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to complete all Level 4 curriculum pathway requirements as outlined in the Leveling Description Guide Ability to meet all technical and performance requirements for a Level 1, 2, 3 & 4 Technician Extensive knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance Expert knowledge and proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and electronic systems diagnostic tooling Operation and control skills of vehicle fleet Problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills Verbal communication skills Excellent time management and organizational skills Ability to follow logical troubleshooting procedures Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to operate a conventional forklift Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair & overhead crane Ability to operate a vehicle on public roads Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects Ability to read, write, and understand information Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences Ability to complete applicable HDSI VBL Classes, model HOLT's VBL Culture, and successfully apply the tools (Learn, Model, Teach, Measure) Requirements Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, accreditation from a technical school or an applicable skilled trades program Eight or more years of experience Completion of Levels 1, 2, 3, & 4 curriculum pathway requirements as outlined in the Leveling Description Guide Has met ProTech training requirements for preceding Technician levels; Ability to learn and model HOLT’s VBL Culture On‑going Safety Training ASE – Medium/Heavy Truck Certification AC Certification Brake System Certification Conventional forklift license Preferred CDL – Class A or B Experience leading/mentoring Supervisory Responsibilities: None Travel: Limited travel or overnight stays Travel to other stores that require help during times of heavy workloads may be expected Travel to customer locations may be expected Additional Requirements: Must own and maintain the necessary tools to efficiently perform the job Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record Completion of the Holt Truck - Tech Level 1-4 International Alignment Training Module* Minimum 40+ billed hours per week (100%+ proficiency) Physical Requirements: Significant amount of time spent standing Constant movement and use of hands, this position requires good manual dexterity Communication with customers and constant communication with co‑workers Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment Lifts and moves materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.
