Job Title: Phlebotomist II Job Description
The primary role of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshoot issues, provide training, and make workflow recommendations. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of specimen collection and management.
Responsibilities- Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.
- Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.
- Decontaminate work areas and update patient information.
- Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
- Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections clearly and courteously.
- Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.
- Understand and follow physicians' orders precisely.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
- Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.
- Package specimens correctly for transport, maintaining proper temperature and integrity.
- Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attend annual department trainings.
- Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results.
- Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
- Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2-4 years of relevant experience.
- Punctuality and consistent attendance.
The work environment is a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting. Employees are expected to adhere to safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized workspace. Professional attire is required to ensure a respectful and efficient working environment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Wichita, KS.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
