Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a VA or compact license and 2 years of travel nursing experience.

Details

• Work on the 5 West Med Surg/Renal/Diabetic unit within a hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:7
• Shift options include 3x12 or 4x12 (overtime after 48 hours on 4x12 schedule)
• Day shift, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Floating required
• Holiday coverage required within contract dates
• Epic EMR experience required, no exceptions

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license in hand, no exceptions
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications via American Heart Association
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Minimum 2 years of travel nursing experience required
• Proficiency in Epic charting system required
• IV start skills required
• Telemetry interpretation skills required
• No prior license or background hits accepted
• Must pass EKG competency test with 80% or higher (one attempt, no remediation available)
• Must not have a history of PAPR fit test issues, as facility cannot accommodate a PAPR

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care for Med/Surg, renal, and diabetic patient populations with telemetry monitoring
• Manage IV therapy including starting and maintaining IVs, PICC lines, central and peripheral lines, and blood product administration
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and monitor telemetry both on-unit and remotely
• Provide respiratory support including oxygen administration, non-invasive airway management, and tracheostomy care
• Perform wound care and manage isolation precautions/PPE
• Care for cardiovascular patients including pre/post cardiac catheterization and post-MI management
• Support renal patients with pre/post hemodialysis management
• Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed
• Complete 3 hours of pre-start orientation modules
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered for this position
• Located in Chesapeake, VA, close to Virginia Beach and Norfolk with access to outdoor recreational activities
