We seek an experienced data architect to guide the data management and strategies across a new big data platform by leveraging Azure, Snowflake, and Power BI. The role involves providing technical leadership and strategic direction for data engineering, reporting, and analytics initiatives. Responsibilities include partnering with business leaders, Enterprise Architecture teams, Business intelligence, and application development teams in building products and solutions for operational and analytical data and reporting needs.

The Data Architect will develop a data platform strategy that aligns with the Business and enterprise architecture framework while optimizing the total cost of ownership. The Data Architect will evaluate and recommend the technologies that are needed (for operational data stores, data lakes, data warehouses, data marts, and data stores while ensuring high levels of data availability). The Data Architect will lead the development and support the maintenance of conceptual, logical, and physical data models across all transactional, master data, and analytics platforms.

The candidate has proven technology leadership and the ability to get hands-on in analysis, design, and execution. In partnership with senior leadership, the Data Architect establishes overall vision and creates a culture that treats data as an asset and service. The Data Architect builds and maintains architecture to support operational and analytical data & reporting needs with different latencies (real-time, near real-time, batch) by integrating data from heterogeneous data sources. The Data Architect implements scalable and cost-effective architecture leveraging existing technologies (Cloud - Azure, Snowflake) and legacy solutions (SaaS, third-party, and homegrown).

The Data Architect builds an open architecture with the recommended tools to enable the integration of different data management functions such as Data Ingestion, Migration, Streaming, Governance, etc. The Data Architect provides strategic direction and oversees the integration of emerging tools and technologies for advanced analytics, including machine learning/data science, that drive business value. The Data Architect communicates at all levels with both business and technology leaders with a strong understanding of business data requirements and technology capabilities.

The Data Architect works in collaboration with Business and IT partners to strategize and execute on target data architecture, standardize, and manage key dimensions. The Data Architect develops conceptual, logical, and physical models for enterprise analytic applications, integrations, master data, and transactional applications and catalogs the data models and data properly. The Data Architect develops data architecture KPIs to measure the control effectiveness of data architecture controls.

The Data Architect identifies opportunities to reuse existing data structures to accelerate development and innovation efforts. The Data Architect develops data standards that will ensure consistent, high-quality, and repeatable designs. The Data Architect coordinates and works with data engineers, data analysts, and peers to develop coding standards and quality assurance policies and procedures. The Data Architect designs and implements data purge and archive processes/standards, redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective availability, protection, and integrity of data assets.

The Data Architect develops and implements the best practices for code migration, testing, cost considerations, etc. The Data Architect builds solutions, including architecture, design, and implementation as needed. The Data Architect mentors and/or provides leadership to data engineers and data analysts of the scrum teams.

Requirements include a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Computer-related discipline or equivalent experience required, 10+ years of experience IT and/or engineering experience, 10+ years of experience with applications integration development lifecycle, deployment, & support, 7+ years of experience with data architecture supporting data movement, BI, data management, data security, and governance, 5+ years of experience in implementing solutions with Snowflake, 5+ years of designing and implementing solutions with Cloud technologies (Azure), and 3+ years of implementing frameworks such as data fabric data mesh. Certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Certified, SnowPro Advanced Architect Certified or related certifications in Azure and Snowflake are also required.
