Job Description

Duties are performed independently in accordance with accepted trade practices and guides. Waiters are assigned stations by the supervisor and given any special instructions necessary.

Major duties include:

• Taking orders placed by guests for alcohol, non-alcoholic beverages, and food items from menus.
• Being fully familiar with all food items available and all beverage items available for guest consumption.
• Ordering drinks from the bartender and delivering them to the guest.
• Maintaining sales records and collecting cash or payment by credit card from the guest.
• Cleaning, resetting, and arranging tables as required.
• Removing used glassware, china, and silverware to the steward area for cleaning.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Skills and knowledge required:

Ability to follow oral and written instructions and prepare guest checks.

Responsibility for cash receipts and complying with accountability procedures.

Physical efforts include standing and walking for long periods. Continually lifting and carrying items weighing up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 20 pounds.

Working conditions include working primarily indoors in areas that usually have adequate light and ventilation. Danger of slipping on wet or polished floors.
