Registered Nurse (RN) – Corrections (Nights) Location: Dallas, TX Schedule: NightShift /6:00 PM- 6:30 AM Employment Type: Contract Overview We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) to support correctional healthcare operations within a fast-paced clinical environment serving the adult incarcerated population. This role requires strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and the ability to provide patient-centered care while working collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams. The ideal candidate will have experience in corrections, behavioral health, emergency care, or other high-acuity environments. Due to the high volume of behavioral health patients, experience with de-escalation techniques, psychiatric care, or mental health support is highly preferred. Key Responsibilities Provide nursing care in accordance with the Texas Nursing Practice Act, established protocols, and clinical standards Perform patient assessments, nursing evaluations, and ongoing monitoring of patient conditions Administer medications, including insulin and other prescribed treatments Conduct withdrawal assessments including COWS and CIWA protocols Complete medication passes and respond to healthcare requests Perform wound care, clinic visits, ECGs, and routine patient rounding Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs Collaborate with physicians, behavioral health professionals, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams Document patient care accurately within electronic medical record systems Exercise sound clinical judgment and respond appropriately to emergency situations Support continuity of care while ensuring patient safety and compliance with healthcare standards Qualifications Active RN license in the State of Texas or compact RN license required Current BLS certification required Previous correctional nursing, behavioral health, emergency department, or acute care experience minimum 2 years Experience with de-escalation techniques and mental health patient populations strongly preferred Strong assessment, triage, and critical thinking skills Ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical environment Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills Basic computer proficiency and EMR experience required Preferred Experience Behavioral health or psychiatric nursing experience Withdrawal management experience (COWS/CIWA) Experience managing high-volume patient populations Emergency response and crisis intervention experience Work Environment Fast-paced correctional healthcare setting High volume behavioral health population Collaborative multidisciplinary care environment Opportunity to support underserved patient populations while utilizing a wide range of clinical nursing skills #J-18808-Ljbffr Creative Solutions Services, LLC
