Data Science Intern
$21 - $66 per hourViaSat Inc.
What you’ll do As the Data Scientist Intern, you will be responsible for the extraction of data from various sources and inputting it into a new database for future business analysis and reporting. You will also provide analytical support related to Engineering performance, identifying trends, and telling stories with data synthesizing methodology and putting into actionable business strategy. This person will work closely with the Systems Integration Engineering Managers as well as other functional leads to identify gaps and structure problems. The day-to-day Data mining or extracting usable data from and to various databases/tools Carrying out preprocessing of structured and unstructured data Processing and validating the integrity of data to be used for analysis Analyzing information to find patterns and solutions Communicating results in a clear manner Propose solutions and strategies to tackle business challenges Collaborate with various business areas/teams Crafting new, experimental frameworks to collect data What you’ll need Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Data Science or related field Experience with data visualization tools such as Smartsheet and Monday Ability to problem solve and analyze data/reports Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills US Citizenship required What will help you on the job Excellent communications and interpersonal skills Analytical mind and great business sense Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Salary range $21 - $66 / hourly At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience.
