Software Engineer - Data/Payments Technology

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with at least 3 years of applied experience.
• Hands-on experience or familiarity with Big Data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, and Iceberg, as well as relational or NoSQL databases.
• Proficiency in Python and Java, and familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience using enterprise-approved AI-assisted software development tools for tasks such as coding, testing, troubleshooting, or documentation, with the ability to evaluate and validate outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and security and resiliency expectations; ability to guide colleagues in safe use.
• Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using modern programming and database query languages.
• Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle and agile practices, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
• Knowledge of data modeling, ETL/ELT, data warehousing, and data security and compliance practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Preferred: Experience with Hadoop, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, and observability tools.
• Preferred: Cloud data engineering certification, such as AWS Certified Data Engineer Associate.
• Preferred: Exposure to AI/ML platforms, data science workflows, and financial services or other regulated industries.
• Preferred: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Develop, optimize, and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes for large-scale ingestion, transformation, and integration across cloud and hybrid environments.
• Partner with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand needs and deliver reliable, scalable data solutions.
• Use enterprise-approved AI coding assistants to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity; validate their outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding practices, and share reusable approaches with the team.
• Apply Software Development Life Cycle tools, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value of automation.
• Create architecture and design artifacts for complex applications and ensure implementation meets design constraints.
• Analyze and visualize large, diverse datasets and produce reports to support ongoing improvements to applications and systems.
• Identify underlying data problems and patterns, using findings to improve coding practices and system architecture.
• Implement data quality checks, monitoring, observability, and secure coding practices in line with governance and compliance standards.
• Contribute to automation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of data infrastructure and platforms.
• Support incident response and resolve issues involving data infrastructure and pipelines.
• Share knowledge and collaborate to encourage innovation and a positive engineering culture.
