Lead Enterprise Data Steward

Lead, Enterprise Data Governance serves as a dedicated Data Steward responsible for day‑to‑day operational oversight of assigned data assets. The role partners with business and technical teams to drive metadata management standards, strengthen data governance processes, and scale stewardship practices enterprise‑wide. Key Responsibilities Operational Data Stewardship Define, validate, and curate business and technical metadata including definitions, lineage, reference data, dictionaries, quality rules, ownership, and usage context. Maintain metadata and stewardship artifacts in governance tools. Ensure metadata accuracy and completeness through regular reviews. Monitor data quality indicators, triage issues, and coordinate remediation. Perform root‑cause analysis and recommend preventive controls. Interpret and apply governance policies, data classification, privacy, access, and retention requirements. Facilitate policy exceptions, access, and usage reviews. Support trusted data use for reporting, analytics, and AI initiatives. Participate in domain‑based governance working groups and advance stewardship priorities. Enterprise Stewardship Enablement Collaborate with leaders and partners to promote stewardship practices. Support development of standards, procedures, templates, and intake processes. Help mature the stewardship operating model and decision‑making frameworks. Facilitate knowledge sharing and socialize stewardship roles across teams. Contribute to scaling the stewardship community through training and documentation. Compile and analyze data quality metrics, produce reports, insights, and recommendations. Conduct benchmarking and maturity assessments to identify governance gaps. Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Leadership Partner with project teams to embed governance principles into implementations. Lead and participate in stewardship forums and issue review sessions. Facilitate discussions to resolve ambiguity, align ownership, and drive decisions. Translate business requirements into technical data concepts. Advocate disciplined data management practices across stakeholders. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. 5+ years of experience in data management, data governance, data quality, business analysis, or analytics. 2+ years in data governance, stewardship, or related programs. Experience defining, maintaining, or using business metadata, dictionaries, catalogs, glossaries, lineage, or quality rules. Working knowledge of governance concepts: ownership, stewardship, classification, access controls, policy adherence, issue management. 2+ years managing complex data issues, assessing impact, supporting root‑cause analysis, recommending solutions, collaborating across teams. Demonstrated commitment to improving data quality and responsible use. Preferred Qualifications 5+ years experience in data management or governance within the healthcare industry. Experience with healthcare data domains such as member, provider, claims, clinical, financial, operational, regulatory, or customer data. Knowledge of healthcare privacy, security, and regulatory expectations (HIPAA). Experience with governance tools (Collibra, Informatica, Alation, Microsoft Purview, Atlan) and issue‑management platforms. Familiarity with SQL, data profiling, BI/reporting, cloud data platforms, data warehouses, data lakes, master data, reference data, lineage concepts. Experience supporting governance for analytics, data products, automation, or AI initiatives. Relevant certifications (e.g., DAMA CDMP, Data Governance and Stewardship Professional). Additional Information Remote work style; candidate must live close to one of our designated IT locations: Louisville, KY; Tampa, FL; Dallas, TX; Boston, MA; New York City; Washington, D.C.; Atlanta, GA; Nashville, TN; Chicago, IL; or Charlotte, NC. Occasional travel to company offices may be required. Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 hours per week Pay Range $117,600 - $161,700 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan based on company or individual performance.
