Job Summary Manages the performance of all aspects of Front End Operations, including cash management, bookkeeping, front‑end service, and payroll. Coordinates community and store event programs throughout the store. Minimum Required Qualifications Directly supervises cashiers, bookkeepers, front‑end supervisors. Associate Degree (A.A.) from a two‑year college or university; five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer skills a must. Background in store operations and work scheduling required. Ability to read and interpret general business reports, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Supported physical requirements: sit and talk or hear; walk or stand for a minimum of four hours and sit; lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; vision abilities for close, distance, color, peripheral, depth, and focus. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Essential Job Functions Maintains security of all store systems, including IBM, Wakefern Applications, and DSD. Ensure proper maintenance of job‑related equipment and proper usage. Reviews and performs the necessary corrective action for transaction journals, check override reports, negative entries, cash control, refunds, promotions, customer service and front‑end culture standards. Maintains all shrink initiatives and ensures compliance with sweep‑store and other shrink controls procedures. Achieves or surpasses department productivity and payroll goals. Submits reports to store and corporate management for key indicators. Ensures all company policies such as check cashing, refunds, exchanges, and gift certificates are administered as per policy. Ensures compliance with Wakefern Food Corporation, state and company QA and sanitation standards. Maintains cash handling procedures. Recruits, hires, onboard, trains and develops all department personnel. Manages others and adheres to company Human Resources and Personnel policies and procedures as well as state and federal labor laws. Insures all training programs for front‑end personnel, bookkeeping, and payroll are administered and documented. Troubleshoots system/hardware issues as they pertain to operations. Communicates to store management and support staff on any issues affecting front‑end operations. Counsels team members who do not meet performance standards. Ensures customer satisfaction by providing superior service level. Educates customers with proper signage concerning events and programs. Analyzes financial and operational processes for cost savings. Meets financial goals as outlined in annual budget. Handles customer complaints as per company standards. Has a company‑recognized food safety certification or is able to complete training to receive and maintain such certification. Other duties as assigned.
