SENIOR FINANCIAL ANALYST

Location: Bammel Facility, Houston, TX
Employment Type: Direct Hire | Full-Time
Anticipated Start Date: October 27, 2026
Annual Salary: $95,000–$115,000
Annual Bonus: 5% Incentive Compensation Plan (ICP)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 3 days in the office and 2 days working remotely

POSITION SUMMARY

NOV's Rig Technologies division is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Analyst to support financial planning and analysis (FP&A), budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and business performance analysis at its Bammel facility in Houston, Texas.

The successful candidate will analyze financial results, develop financial models, automate reporting processes, and provide actionable insights to support strategic business decisions across multiple business lines and locations.

This position requires a strong combination of financial expertise and technical proficiency. Candidates must have hands-on experience building and troubleshooting financial models using Power Query and writing SQL code to extract, analyze, and report financial data.

The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who can independently improve financial processes, streamline reporting, and translate complex financial information into meaningful business recommendations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, comparing actual results against budgets and forecasts.
• Develop and maintain annual budgets and rolling forecasts across multiple business lines and locations.
• Perform variance analysis, identify financial trends, and explain significant changes in business performance.
• Analyze gross margins for third-party and intercompany (IC) sales, operating margins, and other costs of sales.
• Interpret financial results and present actionable recommendations to management.
• Support monthly financial reporting, performance reviews, and special financial projects.

Financial Modeling, Automation & Data Analytics

• Build, maintain, analyze, and troubleshoot financial models using Power Query.
• Develop automated financial reporting processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and consistency.
• Identify opportunities to streamline financial workflows and eliminate manual reporting tasks.
• Write SQL queries to extract, transform, analyze, and validate financial data.
• Utilize data analytics and business intelligence tools to support financial planning and decision-making.
• Work with tools such as Snowflake, Sigma, and Alteryx to improve data analysis and reporting capabilities.

Business Reporting & Performance Management

• Develop reporting processes and dashboards to communicate key performance indicators (KPIs) to finance, operations, and management teams.
• Evaluate financial and operational performance to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Provide financial insights that support business planning, resource allocation, and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial analysis with business objectives.

Accounting, Compliance & Internal Controls

• Coordinate and oversee accurate revenue recognition using the Percentage of Completion (POC) method.
• Support internal and external annual audits.
• Maintain compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and applicable internal controls.
• Ensure financial reporting complies with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies.
• Support the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of financial data and reporting.

Process Improvement & Special Projects

• Identify and implement improvements in financial reporting, data analysis, and operational processes.
• Support cross-functional initiatives and strategic financial projects.
• Develop solutions to improve reporting efficiency, data quality, and financial visibility.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong background in financial planning and analysis (FP&A).
• Demonstrated experience analyzing profit and loss (P&L) statements, budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
• Hands-on experience building, automating, and troubleshooting financial models using Power Query.
• Ability to write SQL code independently for data extraction, analysis, and reporting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables, and financial modeling.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, U.S. GAAP, revenue recognition, and internal controls.
• Experience supporting complex financial operations across multiple business lines or locations.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

TECHNICAL SKILLS & SYSTEMS

Power Query – Essential Requirement

• Demonstrated hands-on experience building financial models and automating reporting processes.
• Ability to independently develop, analyze, and troubleshoot models.
• Experience improving existing financial processes rather than simply maintaining established reports.

SQL – Required

• Ability to write SQL queries independently to retrieve, analyze, validate, and manipulate financial data.
• Experience troubleshooting data-related issues and supporting financial reporting requirements.
