Lab Technician 1 (Analytical) - Temp - Ripon

Job Summary Lab Technicians perform analytical analysis of product and packaging quality, including investigation and resolution of issues to ensure quality of wines and finished products. They meet or exceed quality expectations and regulatory requirements of diverse internal and external customers. Technicians exhibit integrity, good attitude, perseverance, flexibility and teamwork, and work with urgency, initiative and attention to detail. They communicate and collaborate effectively across functional areas and suppliers, performing analytical analysis, sanitation validation, audits of product quality and processes, and microbial stability evaluation. They operate instrumentation/tools and computer systems, and participate in projects as assigned. Higher‑level Technicians take on additional duties. Essential Functions Actively commit to and participate in lab and corporate safety programs, following protocols and reporting hazards. Effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues within the team and across functional areas. Perform routine analysis at all stages of winemaking, operating and maintaining laboratory instruments, capturing complete results, and supporting bottling/export tank approval. Perform process audits, compliance verification and package quality assessments; identify and resolve issues; manage timing and data capture. Perform sanitation validation and troubleshooting through swabbing, record keeping and data review. Utilize aseptic techniques and skills, and perform micro‑plating duties. Participate in Food Safety Management Programs. Suggest and implement quality and process improvements. Manage data, perform calculations, and use technology (AS400, WMS, VA, Microsoft Office). Recognize common issues and seek direction for resolution. Maintain a clean, safe laboratory; follow good lab practices. Monitor, calibrate, and troubleshoot routine lab equipment issues. Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, teamwork, and adherence to safety and food safety rules. Must be able to work rotating shifts and overtime. Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions and procedures. Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively. Positive attitude. Knowledge of good laboratory practices and record keeping. Ability to apply percentages, ratios and proportions. Ability to prioritize while adapting to changing priorities. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Computer skills: basic MS Outlook, Word, Excel. Education: Associate degree in Science or High School Diploma with at least 2 years of work experience; alternatively Biotech Certificate or AS degree in chemistry, food science, biology, process technology, QA, or related field, or 1‑2 years in food/beverage/alcohol industry; equivalent combination allowed. Physical Demands Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Work in fast‑paced production environment, both indoors and outdoors with exposure to equipment and noise. Bend, stoop, stand, twist in laboratory or production environment. Repetitively climb 20‑foot tank stairs/vertical tank ladders. Compensation Hourly Pay Rate: $22.00/hr.
