Psychiatrist

Position Summary Full‑time Psychiatrist to work with the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team in Swarthmore, PA (Delaware county) supporting adults with serious mental illnesses. Responsibilities Supervise the treatment team in a comprehensive assessment of psychiatric history, mental status, diagnosis, physical and dental health, substance use, education, employment, social development, activities of daily living, and family structure. Collaborate with registered nurses to assess participants' physical health, make referrals to community physicians, and coordinate medical treatments with psychiatric treatment. Prescribe psychotropic medications, conduct regular assessments of therapeutic responses and side effects, and educate clients about medications. Provide individual, group, and family supportive therapy, psychotherapy, and illness education. Support, educate, and counsel family members to facilitate treatment engagement and progress. Conduct on‑site crisis assessment and management during regular hours, on‑site and over the phone after hours, and act as on‑call backup to the first‑line on‑call staff. Qualifications Medical Doctor with valid Pennsylvania state license. Board‑certified or board‑eligible in psychiatry. Experience with serious mental illnesses, dual diagnoses, and Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) model. Clinical supervisory experience desirable. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to establish supportive trusting relationships with persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses and respect for client rights and personal preferences.
